Duty 10: End-of-Shift Activities
Learner will demonstrate how to conduct efficient and thorough end-of-shift activities. Learner will also explain job duties, why they are conducted, any associated risk, and how to implement appropriate controls. Thorough knowledge and best practices of a end-of-shift examination includes the following steps:
Talk to section foreman coming on
- See start of shift activities
Ensure that all employees have checked out of the mines 30 CFR § 75.1715
Order immediately needed supplies
Communicate with shift foreman and chief electrician
Charge methane detectors according to shift 30 CFR § 75.320
Review and sign pre-shift books 30 CFR § 75.360(f)
- On-Shift record
- Note corrective actions taken
- Pre-Shift record
Complete production and Delay Report
- Fill out construction book (if applicable)
- Update section map
- Pay employees
